Faroese poetry in German

This week a small selection of Beinir Bergsson’s poems in German translation by Theresa Kohlbeck Jakobsen was published in the literary magazine Edit No. 96.

Edit is published twice a year and explores the boundaries of literature through German-language poetry and prose, as well as dramatic forms and first translations. Edit is supported as an association by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and the Cultural Office of the City of Leipzig.

The poems are taken from Beinir Bergsson’s debut collection "The little boy and the skeleton" (Sprotin, 2017) and deal with themes such as Faroese identity and coping with grief. Beinir received the Ebba Hentze Young Talent Award for this work.
