Faroese Poetry Night in Berlin

Last week there was a Faroese Poetry Night in Berlin. On the agenda was an in-depth introduction to Faroese poetry by scholar Malan Marnersdóttir. The highlight of the evening was the collaborative reading and discussion with poets Nansý Sunadóttir and Beinir Bergsson. Theresa Kohlbeck, translator and organizer, moderated the panel and contributed German translations of their respective poems. They touched up on three themes: body and intimacy, family and grandparents, neighbours and gardening.

Around 60 people attended the event. It was held in the Auditorium in the Felleshus of the Nordic Embassies in Berlin and was opened by Danish ambassador Thomas Østrup Møller touching up on his personal connection to the Faroe Islands as well as the current geopolitical developments.
