"Fjallafólk á flatlendi" is a diary written by Sanna Apol and edited by her granddaughter Katrin D. Apol. In 1920 Sanna, who was from Norðadalur, a tiny mountain parish near Torshavn, moved with her newly wedded Dutch husband to Holland. They lived in Holland for about two years and during this time Sanna kept a diary and wrote about her thoughts of being a Faroese mountain dweller living in a completely flat country. Sanna never grew accustomed to her life in Holland, and the diary expresses her conflicting state of mind and the battle between nature and culture on a personal and communal level. The book is publlished by Sprotin.
