Debut poetry collection
Last week, Grøðandi sjógvur (Eng. Curing Sea), a new poetry collection written by Snæbjørn í Dali was published by Sprotin. While selected poems by í Dali have previously been featured in the literary periodical Vencil, this collection is his debut, independent work.
The book is divided into four parts, each containing around a dozen poems. The four parts are named Ljós, Myrkur, Dagar and Náttúra – Light, Darkness, Days and Nature in English, and they feature poems serving as an exploration of the first person narrator’s childhood, adolescence and memories, thoughts and predictions of current global affairs and developments, such as war and AI, the intricacies and interconnection of days and human emotions, and the narrator’s contemplation on the constant changes and cycles in nature and reflection of his own aging and deterioration.
