New Novel from Kjelnæs

Marjun Syderbø Kjelnæs’ new novel “Óendalig vera”, released on 21 June, is about old Vera who is suffering from aphasia and young Leon who is struggling with his past. Vera is full of words but cannot speak due to her illness but Leon finds great comfort in her. The jury says in its motivation that “the novel moves skillfully between the present and the past in its description of events and characters in Torshavn and other smaller villages” and “to have a main character in a novel who cannot speak is both original and brave and it’s a reminder that all those who cannot speak are full of stories and only authors can give them a voice”. “Óendaliga vera” is published by Bókadeild Føroya Lærarafelag.
