Funding for Nordic publishers to cover fees for translators, translating a work from Faroese into another Nordic language.
The purpose of the scheme is to contribute to the publication of quality Nordic literature in Nordic languages other than the original language. Grants may also be awarded for special feature issues of magazines intended for Nordic countries, just as publishing support for illustrated children’s books may also be granted.
Non-Nordic publishers: please apply to the fund for non-Nordic publishers.
Grants are only available for translation of a work formerly published by a Faroese publisher.
The committee will prioritise publishers, who have a contract with a translator. In its evaluation, the committee will prioritise contemporary works and translations that are made directly from Faroese.
The grant is paid when the book has been published and FarLit has received a copy of the translated book. Recognition of the approved grant from the Nordic Council of Ministers must be printed in the colophon of the book, together with the Nordic Council of Minister’s logo. For example, the statement could read:
Published with a grant from the Nordic Council of Ministers
in the language of the published book.
