For NON-NORDIC/international publishers

Do you publish translated literature?

The grants provided by FarLit are intended to encourage international publishers to publish books by Faroese authors. Publishers from the entire world can apply for FarLit’s production grant to publish translations of Faroese literature.

Nordic publishers: please apply to the fund for Nordic publishers.

Grants are available for the translation and production of a Faroese book into another language. Grants are only available for the translation of a work formerly published by a Faroese publisher.

The committee will prioritise publishers, who have a contract with a translator. In its evaluation, the committee will prioritise contemporary works and translations that are made directly from Faroese.

The grant is paid when the book has been published and FarLit has received a copy of the translated book. Recognition of the approved grant from FarLit must be printed in the colophon of the book, together with FarLit’s logo. For example, the statement could read:

Published with a grant from FarLit

in English or the language of the published book.

Application deadlines: 1 February, 1 June & 1 October
