Vónbjørt Vang is the winner of the 2026 readers award

Svørt Orkidé (en. Black Orchid) by Vónbjørt Vang won the Readers Award held by the Faroese libraries. In the past month readers have had the opportunity to vote for three books, that were nominated for the Readers Award.

Vónbjørt Vang receives 30.000 DKK. This is the third time the Faroese libraries have handed this award. The other two nominated books were Marta, Marta by Marjun Syderbø Kjelnæs and Altartalvan by Jógvan Isaksen.

The award has been established to highlight Faroese books that each year are the most borrowed and read across the Faroese libraries, but also to give readers a voice and an opportunity to reward and celebrate the books that have been the most borrowed of the year.

The nominations are based on lending statistics from all Faroese public libraries as well as statistics from the National Library.
