New release from Høgni Mohr
Author Høgni Mohr has released a new book with the title Elians Sonur – Son of Elian in English. Based on the pentalogue with the same title that aired on Faroese radio last year, the book follows the ideas and thoughts of Ragnar Eliansson from the village of Sørvágur. The back cover features an illustration by Tóroddur Poulsen. Mohr’s publishing house Øgiliga egið forlagið has published the 218-page book.
While we wait for the water to boil, we can reflect a bit on what we have talked about.
Naturally, we have touched on various things that are rather dystopian and bleak. It may seem that much of it gives the impression that there is no hope.
We have created a model or a picture of something so hopeless and dark that one might think there is no other meaningful way out than to jump off Trælanípan.
Therefore, we must somehow summarize and figure out whether and why it is possible to find meaning, beauty, and an entirely different path – something that gives life substance and helps us regain a sense of meaning.
– Ragnar Eliansson
Although trained as a mechanic, Mohr has written from a young age and worked as a journalist for several years. More recently, he has authored a number of literary works, including the 2022 biographical novel Saga JAM, which won him the inaugural Readers’ Award in 2024.
