William Heinesen republished in Estonia
Estonian publisher Norður has republished De fortabte spillemænd – Glataðu spælimenninir in Faroese and The Lost Musicians in English – by William Heinesen, originally published by Gyldendal in 1950. Heinesen’s famous novel, entitled Kadunud moosekandid in Estonian, was translated into Estonian from Danish by Arvo Alas in 1984.
The new, reprinted novel contains Alas’ translation, along with some extra content, such as photographs of Heinesen, a selection of his visual arts and an overview of his life and career.
Norður has published the book to commemorate the 125 years since Heinesen’s birth.
